Microgrid Institute Announces Microgrid Journal,
Calls for Submissions
:: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ::
May 20, 2014: Microgrid Institute welcomes editorial submissions for review and consideration in the inaugural issue of its official publication, the Microgrid Journal (www.microgridjournal.com).
Microgrid Journal seeks submissions related to microgrids of every type (campus, military, community, transit, island, remote, nanogrids, etc.) as well as a range of related issues, such as those involving local energy assets and grid-edge innovation.
“Microgrid Journal will present in-depth analysis, commentary, and peer-reviewed scholarship focusing on developments and trends in the global microgrid market,” said Michael T. Burr, founding editor of Microgrid Journal, and director of Microgrid Institute. “We’ll cut through the hyperbole and confusion about microgrids by providing insights on fast-changing markets, technologies, and models for microgrid development and integration – as well as cautionary lessons learned.”
Burr brings to Microgrid Journal a 25-year career as an energy industry analyst and thought leader. Most recently, from 2007 to 2014, he served as editor-in-chief and associate publisher of Public Utilities Fortnightly (Public Utilities Reports Inc., Reston, Va.). His analysis and editorial work has appeared in numerous authoritative publications, including Electric Light & Power, Oil & Gas Journal, Telecom Business, Inside Counsel, Corporate Legal Times, Independent Energy, Scientific American, and IEEE Electrification. Burr led the formation of Microgrid Institute in early 2013, and served as primary author for the Minnesota Department of Commerce-commissioned study, Minnesota Microgrids: Opportunities, Barriers, and Pathways toward Resilience.
With plans for semi-annual journal publication complemented by current coverage and resources, Vol. I, Issue No. 1 of the Microgrid Journal will be released in the third quarter of 2014.
ABOUT MICROGRID INSTITUTE: Microgrid Institute is a collaborative organization that addresses key issues affecting the development of microgrids and distributed energy assets around the world. Efforts focus on market development and analysis, regulatory and financial models, and project feasibility and structuring. Microgrid Institute is an independent initiative of Burr Energy LLC.
