Who We Are

Microgrid Initiatives began in 2013 as Microgrid Institute, a collaborative organization supporting development of microgrids and distributed energy assets. Since then MGI principals have supported multiple microgrid projects and related efforts, serving in such roles as development manager, owner's representative, project manager, facilitator, consultant, grant writer, and grants manager. In addition to supporting microgrid development and construction projects, we also serve as prime contractor for non-construction grant-funded projects. We initiate and lead collaborative projects with multiple stakeholders and development partners, including host communities, technology leaders, legal and policy analysts, finance firms, engineers, constructors, and academics at leading research and policy institutions.

Our Mission

Microgrid Initiatives leads and supports development of sustainable and resilient local energy resources. We help communities and commercial energy users to design, develop, and deploy the innovative and competitive onsite energy systems they need to achieve their goals.

We bring microgrids
from concept to commissioning.

Representative Engagements

See our Projects and Clients page for details about our previous and ongoing work. We have provided services for a variety of communities, Tribes, and State agencies, as well as private companies and not-for-profit organizations.
